Sustainable urbanization represents one of the most compelling challenges of our times. Cities must cope with poor air quality, heat island effects, increased flood risk, and public health issues. Climate change adaptation and mitigation strategies are urgently needed to promote more sustainable and healthy cities around the world.

This Conference will bring together international leading scientists from relevant disciplines to discuss on the fundamental role that SMART SOLUTIONS, such as nature-based solutions (NBS) play through the provision of ecosystem services in supporting climate change adaptation and mitigation, the livelihood of citizens, and the achievement of sustainable development goals (SDGs).

Contributions are expected in one or more of the following topics:

1.  Urban forests and greenspaces as nature-based solutions

2.  Smart technologies and remote sensing applications

3.  Smart solutions for climate change adaptation and mitigation

4.  Smart solutions for natural risk management and healthy/resilient cities

5.  Restoring urban ecosystems, ecosystem services, and human wellbeing

6.  Smart solutions for mitigating soil, water and air pollutions

Other contributions of interest are those providing examples of successful case studies, advanced sensors, and comparative analyses world-wide.
